The fate of Strand Road and Waterside PSNI stations is expected to become clear next month, it's been revealed.
The Derry police stations as well as stations in Limavady, Strabane, Claudy, Eglinton, Dungiven, Donemana, Castlederg may be facing the axe under the latest review of police estate and resources.

Following a parliamentary question by East Derry MP Gregory Campbell, NIO Minister Paul Goggins received the following answer from PSNI Chief Constable Hugh Orde.

"Work is currently being carried out identifying stations, which will be subject to review. The outcome will likely be included in the Updated PSNI Estates Strategy planned to be submitted to the Northern Ireland Policing Board in June 2008."

UUP Strabane District Councillor Derek Hussey said he is extremely concerned. "I cannot understand, when we are talking about police in the community, why we are talking community bases away.

"There are local concerns as to the police presence on the ground. If you don't have presence on the ground, it affects stations," he said.
