Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness has told dissident republicans to "pack up and go away" at an IRA commemoration event in Derry on Sunday.
In a hard-hitting message to armed republican groups, Mr. McGuinness dismissed their campaign as "bogus" and "pointless".

He also said the response of the people of Derry to the murder of Emmett Shiels in Creggan last week was an indication of the lack of support for dissident republican groups.

"These groups should listen to the voice of the people and pack up and go away. They have come to the point of no return, armed action in the absence of a political strategy and support are pointless and do nothing to advance the cause of Irish freedom. Indeed the opposite is the reality," he said.

Mr. McGuinness also offered to hold talks with the leaders of dissident republican groups. "I have heard some within these groups argue that their motivation is to drag the IRA back onto the battlefield. That will not happen. And indeed, myself, Gerry Adams and other republican leaders have offered to meet with these various groups to set out in very clear terms where we see the struggle sitting and where it is headed in the years ahead," he said.

Will the Provo’s be packing up and going away? Why should republicans listen to a British minister? Does he seriously think will have an impact on Sinn Fein’s republican rivals, liars and hypocrites are always exposed and everyone knows that the people of Derry are not easily fooled. As the Dissident above has pointed out Sinn Fein has harbored a convicted murder in this city who was part of Martin’s personal security team and even had a welcome home party for him after he was released. Everyone is seeing how Sinn Fein are playing political football with this man murder as the dogs in the street and even Nell Mc Cafferty is aware that it was armed teenage hoods that Shot the young republican dead.

If I put in words about this mafia it will be reported unsuitable, I dont care about dissadents and selling out etc, McGuinness should be tried for war crimes on his own Derry people, If (God Rest Him) Emmets family werent republican and Emmet was a man about town, McGuinness wouldnt be near that funeral,

The words of Martin McGuiness are right let the past be the past the forward we have to look to the war is over .I would say 90% or more of the people want peaceful lives .Why does a small group of low scum want to hide behind masks to cause havoc by murdering innocent people where are their conscience when they commit such evil deeds.

Lads 10 years ago dissidents and Sinn Fien were one big happy family. There is people mentioning reality checks here and this is one. The difference is now republicanism has taken a bad case of schizophrenia. Sinn Fein has taken the peaceful path to a United Ireland and the other simpletons who are now known as dissidents believe that shooting and bombing the police is going to free a nation. Kinda like the good angel, bad angel on your shoulder effect. My point now is which angel is the murdering monsters from the troubles listening to now?????

Simpletons? I know a dissadent who done 18 years inside becuse of the war, he didnt grass up any of his comrades, is he a simpleton? All his life he had nothing but the troubles, as he puts it "he went into jail a second class citizen and came out a second class one" while he watch certain individual reap all the financial benefits because of their name, he lost his family and life, what else has he got now? Everything he ever believed in gone. I dont think simpleton is a word to describe all of them

Even the camera men couldnt hide the pathetic turn out! As for the prat who described the dissidents as simpltones has he read the 32csm documents they do have a point you know. 'Northern Ireland' is an illegal state-let created to harbour the British minority on this island. And Sinn Feins attempts to to de-republicanise Derry has gone all pete tong.
