Reports that X Factor star Eoghan Quigg is tipped to join Irish band, Boyzone, following the tragic death of singer Stephen Gately are purely speculation, according to the Dungiven teen's father.
The 17-year-old performed with the hit Irish boyband during the live finals of the TV talent show last year and subsequently joined them on tour.
Since Stephen Gately's death earlier this month, speculation has mounted on internet websites that ch
art-topper Eoghan will replace Gately.
Unrealitytv.co.uk reported "front runners for the role on a few Boyzone fansites, are said to be former X Factor stars Eoghan Quigg and Shayne Ward".
But Eoghan's dad, Chrissie, dismissed the reports.
"We have not been contacted by anyone. No one has approached us about this," Chrissie told the 'Journal'.
"God forbid, the poor guy wasn't even buried and we were hearing this. "
Alan Carr
In the meantime, Eoghan who is back at school at St. Patrick's College, Dungiven, is in England this weekend for several events. One is to pre-record an appearance in London with hit entertainment presenter Alan Carr.
The teenager's appearance will air during Christmas, according to Chrissie who said his son is busy most weekends. In the coming weeks he will be across the North and in England switching on Christmas lights in several cities.
"He's kept busy and hopefully 2010 will be a big year for Eoghan."
