The Millennium Forum has pulled off a major coup with confirmation yesterday that the Broadway show of stage, television and film sensation 'High School Musical' is coming to Derry early in the New Year.
Forum chief executive David McLaughlin confirmed to the 'Journal' yesterday evening that negotiations with Disney executives in London have been successfully concluded.
The show, which has smashed records around the world, is expected to be here f
or a week. Tickets will go on sale on Wednesday.
David said: "This is fantastic news for the Forum and for the North West and it confirms that we're very much on the map for the big shows. 'High School Musical' has been a box office smash hit success and we're delighted that we've now been pencilled in for one of the slots on the tour."
It's an eventful week for the Forum. The venue is expected to make a presentation on Wednesday to its two millionth customer.
"With 'High School Musical' going on sale on Wednesday morning I've no doubt we'll pass the two million mark before Wednesday night so that will be a double celebration for us. And it's the people who come to the shows and use the venue that make this all possible," said David.
"We've had some big shows here in the past but this is going to be the biggest ever seen in Derry. We're looking forward to a very busy day on Wednesday!"
