Hollywood big guns Richard Gere and Hilary Swank are to star in a new blockbuster telling the life story of aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart.
‘Amelia’ is due for a release in October of this year.
Meanwhile, a play marking the 77th anniversary of Earhart’s historic landing on the outskirts of Derry is currently seeking a leading actress to play the role of the world famous aviator.
One internationally reknowned Amelia Earhart expert has confirmed she is behind plans to save Derry’s Amelia Earhart Centre form closure.
Susan Larson, International President of ‘The 99s Inc.’ - a female aviators club which was founded in 1929 and first presided over by Ms. Earhart herself - is full of praise for the local museum.
The 99s is organised in some 35 countries and has more than 5,000 members.
