A 25 year-old man was critically ill in hospital in Letterkenny yesterday after being stabbed.
Gardai said they were called to an apartment off Main Street on a laneway beside Victor’s Gift Shop at half-seven yesterday morning. They found the injured man there and he was taken to hospital.

The area was cordoned off for forensic examination.

Later they arrested a 34 year-old man.

Letterkenny councillor Dessie Larkin said people were shocked by the very serious incident.

"Our thoughts are with the young man and his family, and we hope that he pulls through,” he said. "This was an isolated incident, and we hope we don't see anything similar in the town.”
