Obviously this is stemming from Sinn Fein in a attempt to cause damage to the growing 'Dissident' support base. Why are they useing Emmett's death as a barometer for support for the 'Dissidents' it is clear that it was carried out by teenagers who are linked to a group which hasn't dissented from Provo Sinn Fein therefore cannot be described as dissident republicans. Next week we will See Sinn Fein members canvassing around the doors to score a few cheap points againests its rivils by abusing the Murder of Emmett Shiels.

Why don't you buy yourself a time-machine and head back to the dark ages? Oh wait, you already have!

Are you serious? Have you been burying your head in the sand pit in Bull park?

The dogs in the street know who was behind the Murder of Emmett.

No one is point scoring from this tragedy,in a previous comment I mentioned the reasons why. So called dissidents have no place in our society - Emmett's death was needless and brutal but the organisation behind it hasn't got the nerve to tell the truth or publicly admit why they gave guns to children. Go figure!

CCR well said. The fact is that shooting any person in this day in age cannot be justified. When was the last time a Republican was shot by the British Army??? that's right there is none here. The only people doing the shooting is the dissidents and funny enough all their victims appear to be Catholics.

So Ciambh O'Gill reckons the british army isn't in the north, curiously I saw 2 brit army bomb disposal vans on the strand last week.
I saw a british police force on the new bridge this morning.
mi5 (british intelligence) have a shiny new headuarters just up the road.

Irishmen and women are running the 6 counties on behalf of the brits and have the nerve to say it will end partition.

As Francie Brolly of $hame Fein said "Republicans are prepared to work an executive. We are really prepared to administer British rule in Ireland for the foreseeable future. The very principle of partition is accepted, and if the Unionists had had that in the 1920s they would have been laughing."
March 28 1999 (London Sunday Times)

So Ciambh you say the only people 'doing the shooting is the dissidents' how about:
paul quinn beaten to death,

robert mccartney beaten & stabbed to death,-

Just how do you fit 70 people in a 3x4 toilet, maybe you should ask your local $hame fein mla? And how come no members of $hame fein cooperated fully with the investigation?

joe oconnor gunned down in belfast,

who shot denis donaldson,

who stabbed eamonn collins,

who shot andrew kearney and then cut the phone lines and blocked the lift so the young man bled to death, his mother was a lifelong republican.

who beat mickey donnelly and his wife and children in derry spraying mace into the eyes of a child etc etc etc

Could this be pira, and all this and a lot more whilst on a ceasefire at a time when their cohorts in $hame fein claimed to be committed to peaceful means.

The killing of Emmett Shiels was wrong and could never be justified, but the hypocrisy of $hame fein is incredible manipulating this horrible scenario for their own ends.

Young Republican,

Shantallow 05/07/2008 12:24:35
CCR, Could you care to explain why people in their early 20's where wearing black and whites and marching alongside ex Pow's in an attempt to bolster the pathetic turnout at a recent parade where our Marty was to tell us to pack up and go away?

Sinn Fein is a sinking ship in this town, and this last gasp effert to save itself hasn't worked very well.

Why is the SDLP so silent?

Ciambh O'Gill,

Urris, I am not pro Sinn Fein. Republican, Dissidents republican, you say tomato I say tomateo. You have proved my point that some so called Republicans are committing awful crimes against their own community. My last statement said that Catholics were no longer being killed by the army. I do know that Loyalists hate the PSNI just as much if not more than republicans for I have done voluntary work in their areas. This petition is about cutting out the violence not republicanism. Surely you can get your point across without hurting another human being.

Ciambh,
I did not say you were pro $F as you have called $F - so called republicans, for in my eyes they could not be further removed from what I see as republican. Catholics may currently not being killed by the army, but are being killed by and on behalf of those who claim to be committed to peaceful means sitting in an illegal british parliamnet on Irish soil. Which at the core is my problem with this petition, this petition has nothing to do has nothing to do with Emmett Shiels and everything to do with $hame Feins agenda and shame on them for using his death for propaganda. Then again the dead used to vote with alarming regularity for $hame Fein, so nothing would surprise me.

a point on the opening article without attempting to seem insulting to Mr English or the memory of his sons only one of his sons was an IRA volunteer, Charles died on active service in 1985, 4 years after his brother Gary was brutally murdered by the british army along with Jim Brown at the top of creggan street.
