DERRY-born actress Roma Downey and her super-rich husband have cooked up a new scheme for reeling in the dollars in the US.
Roma - who was recently rated among Ireland's richest celebrities due to the financial success of English hubby Mark Burnett, creator of hit TV shows The Apprentice and Survivor - is now set to make it big in the kitchen.

The former Thornhill student's other half has come up with the a health-promoting microwave oven - the TrueCook Plus. Its technology claims to guarantee that "frozen, refrigerated and shelf stable products" are cooked thoroughly and safely "every time".

Mr. Burnett, who served with the British Army in Northern Ireland, is the main partner in the Los Angeles company called Microwave Science which invented the product.

To use the new microwave, consumers dial in the numeric code found on the product packaging and the software calculates how long the food needs to cook to achieve thorough cooking. "TrueCook Plus makes vague microwave package instructions obsolete," Mr. Burnett said.
