If you are a singer or have ever wanted to sing now is your chance as Derry's City of Song Festival September 25-28 is announcing its Festival Chorus.
Set up in association with Opera Theatre Company, singers of any age and any level of experience are welcome to join for the Festival weekend, you just need enthusiasm and commitment.
Participants will be working with professional artists througho
ut the weekend, these include Jamie Burton (Chorus master at the Halle Orchestra), Nigel Short (ex King singers), Mark Chambers (Tenebrae) and singers from Opera Theatre Company as well as listening to some of the world's finest singers.
The Festival Chorus will also get the chance to sing in the final festival concert, with none other than Eddi Reader, who became world famous for her song 'Perfect' with Fairground Attraction!
Mark Chambers, who performs with Tenebrae and now lives Buncrana, encourages people of all ages to get involved with this unusual event.
"This is a unique opportunity to work with Jamie Burton, one of the most respected chorus masters' in the world.
Jamie is considered to be at the top of his profession and this Festival Chorus will not only involve learning the right notes, it will help people to sing better, breathe better and help people learn more about the physicality of singing - in a way, it's all the skills you might learn at singing lessons, but for free!
"It's also the one and only chance anyone will have to sing alongside the fantastic Eddie Reader, which will be quite exciting," Mark added.
"The whole City of Song weekend will be fantastic as there is so much stuff going on in the city. The festival will hopefully attract adults, young people and children to come and see what's going on in their local scene.
"We even have plans to get a special Under 18s wristband for events so young people can enjoy the music like anyone else."

Mark went on: "With so many special events on, the festival will certainly provide anyone who attends with a special musical experience. City of Song will be a quite exciting reason to have a celebration of the voice."
