A thirty-six years old local man is to go on trial at the city's Crown Court charged with raping a twenty-three years old woman.
At the defendant's arraignment yesterday, Judge Desmond Marrinan imposed a temporary media ban on naming the defendant who is charged with committing the offence between January and March 2000.

A prosecution barrister said that the complainant has had counselling since the alleged rape, but no medical intervention.

A defence solicitor said there would be third party disclosure applications and there were also likely to be two expert witnesses for the defence.

The case is to be reviewed on June 19 and the trial is scheduled to start at the Crown Court on September 29.
