Police are hunting a sex attacker who targeted a woman as she left the grounds of a Derry church.
The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon in the grounds of St. Columba's Long Tower Church.

The PSNI say the woman was praying in the church's grounds when a teenager attempted to have a conversation with her.

He then attacked her as she left the church.

Fr. Roland Colhoun from St Columba's said the woman's bravery and quick-thinking saved her from a worse attack.

"She was a very brave girl and very quick-thinking, because she had a very speedy reaction of self-defence," Fr Colhoun said.

"She screamed and fought him off by putting her fingers into his eyes and he took to his heels and ran off.

"It could have been quite a serious assault, but because of her quick thinking she drew it to a close very quickly."
