Greater Shantallow Community Arts are delighted to announce free Acting Master Classes facilitated by Derry’s very own Amanda Doherty, who has performed far and wide and even graced the stage at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre.

The Master Classes take place this Saturday, November 3, from 10.30am – 2.30pm at the ARC centre in Bloomfield, Galliagh. They have been established in association with the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and Greater Shantallow Community Arts, who are delighted to announce that the classes are FREE of charge.

Amanda Doherty is a graduate of Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts who’s credits include BAFTA nominated ‘An Education’, the West End’s ‘Romeo & Juliet’, BBC1’s ‘The Fall’ and performances at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre.

Amanda has a passion for creating live theatre performance and during her master classes you will explore a diversity of acting techniques thus developing your self-confidence as an actor.

Amanda Doherty played Amelia Earhart in what was the highlight of Greater Shantallow Community Arts’ Earhart Festival 2012 - the world premiere of ‘One Day in Derry’ directed by leading Australian dramatist Dr Matt Jennings and specially commissioned to mark the 80th anniversary of an unforgettable day in May 1932, when Amelia Earhart’s unscheduled landing at Ballyarnett made her first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic. Who else better than the gifted professional actor Amanda Doherty to play the role of Amelia Earhart? Indeed, audiences were stunned by Amanda’s performance, which was one of international standard and appeal.

This is an amazing opportunity for aspiring actors of all ages to work with one of the city’s rising stars of stage and theatre and to develop new acting skills and techniques.

These master classes are open to all levels of acting from the beginner to the professional.

Places are limited, to ensure your place please contact Louise at Greater Shantallow Community Arts, 65 Galliagh Park on: 71 357443 or email: louise@gscaderry.com.
