A Derry musician whose music has earned him over 275,000 hits and made him a YouTube sensation will headline a show in his hometown tonight, Friday, October 26.

18 year-old Jordan O’Keefe, from Drumahoe in the city, has been singing all his life and tonight he will share his talents with a local audience when he headlines The Review in the Northern Bank Studio of the Millennium Forum.

A rapidly rising pop/acoustic act, the former Oakgrove College student began posting his own performances on the video-sharing site YouTube a few years back, covering some classic songs and making them his own.

“I’ve been singing since I was about six or seven years-old, and when I hit 14 I started learning the electric and acoustic guitar and it all kicked off from there,” Jordan told the ‘Journal’ this week.

“I started doing the YouTube videos about three years ago. To begin with it was only people I knew who would watch them, but now people from all over are watching, especially in England and America, it’s been amazing.

“Altogether, the videos have had over 275,000 views so far, so I just hope people keep watching and enjoying them.”

Having built his huge, loyal fan base through YouTube, Jordan has since signed a management deal with Totally Amazing Records in Glasgow and is working on his debut single.

“We have no official release date for the album, but it will be towards the end of the year,” he says. “The album will have original material on it too.”

Besides all that, he has been gigging relentlessly all over Northern Ireland, Donegal and in Liverpool. Citing his main musical influences as Stevie Wonder and James Morrison, Jordan is hopeful of carving a career in the industry.

“If people like my music, then I’ll keep making it and I’ll hopefully progress and take it as far as I can,” he says.

“And I can’t wait until the gig at the Millennium Forum, it’s going to be brilliant!”

So calling all Jordan’s local fan base - don’t miss his Forum gig tonight, Friday, October 26. It all kicks off at 9pm tonight and Jordan O’Keefe will take to the stage at 10pm.

Tickets are available for £3.
