‘Be prepared’ for digital switchover this October

Derry MLA Mark H Durkan is urging residents to be prepared for the permanent switch to digital tv this October.

The analogue signal will be switched off in two phases, on October 10 and October 24, but Mr Durkan says the switchover need not cause panic.

“For those vulnerable members of our community, the Switchover Help Scheme will (for a contribution of £40 towards equipment) install, demonstrate and provide aftercare for a new digital set-up for anyone over 75, in residential care for over 6 months or in receipt of DLA, Attendance Allowance or Mobility Supplement or is registered blind or partially sighted. For everyone else, it is as simple as getting a digital TV or a digibox for your existing TV.”
