Celtronic 2012 continues all weekend
Following an exceptional kick-off on Wednesday evening, Ireland’s leading electronic music festival, Celtronic 2012, continues at various venues across Derry this weekend.
Tonight, Friday June 29, sees two special events take place in the city. Jape, twice winner of the prestigious Choice Album of The Year Award for his albums ‘Ocean Of Frequency’ and ‘Ritual’, will play a special live show at Craig Memorial Hall, Infirmary Road. The party-startin’ Jape live show sees Richie and his band concentrate on making people move their feet. Support from Shocko, Vincent and Stephen McCauley.
Later in the evening, a massive night in store at the historic St Columb’s Hall with three of the biggest names in electronic music. Moscow based Nina Kraviz is one of house music’s brightest most refreshing talents. Her self-titled debut album explores her unique brand of sensual and intricately constructed deep house.
Steffi, the first lady of Panorama Bar has developed a natural and professional balance between DJing and producing. Always presenting a rich, versatile selection with her skillful, creative mixing style. With a string of high profile productions released on some of the world’s most respected labels, Psycatron’s winning combination of killer DJ sets and live shows has seen them emerge as one of the biggest Irish dance acts. Support from Deep Fried Funk DJs, Caolan Harkin, Darren Allen and Dingle.
Saturday begins with a free show at Masons Bar on Magazine Street, featuring some of the best local DJs. At 7pm, The Little Theatre at St Columb’s Hall will see David Kitt perform his debut album ‘Small Moments’ in its entirety, for the first time since its release in 2000, accompanied by his brother Robbie who memorably featured on the album aged just 10 at the time. They’ll also perform a second set of material spanning Kitt’s ten-year career and some brand songs. Support from Declan McLaughlin and Shammen Delly. Later at the Nerve Centre, some of the biggest acts in electronica will perform including Billy Nasty, Keith Tenniswood, Kuedo, Mmoths, Boxcutter and more.
Fresh from the success of their debut ‘Serious About Men’, award winning act, The Rubber Bandits, will bring Celtronic 2012 to a close with a special party at Sandinos on Sunday. In 2011 The Rubberbandits won an IFTA, conquered America, filming their own unique guide to NYC for MTV, and are now filming a full-on TV show for Channel 4. Support from Dollface Devereaux, Wile Man, Deadbots and Jean Luc and Dollface from La Musique.
