Coming up at Centre for Contemporary Art

The Centre for Contemporary Art, which is now based at 10-12 Artillery Street, will be kept busy with several fascinating projects, both at home and further afield.

For those venturing to London anytime soon, The Grand Domestic Revolution GOES ON, opens at the Showroom in London on Tuesday, September 11, and is a daring collaboration between CCA Derry~Londonderry, Casco, Utrecht, and the Showroom, London, with the support of Arts Council England, Arts Council of Northern Ireland, and the City of Culture 2013.

Closer to home, CCA’s new Autumn exhibition, Contours of Common, which will take place in public spaces throughout the city, opens Friday, September 21. It will feature new and recent works Lara Almarcegui; Amy Balkin; Andrew Dodds; Andrea Geyer; Sean Lynch; Seamus Nolan; and Johan Tirén. The project is a collaboration with PLACE, the Architecture and Built Environment Centre in Belfast. A free map will be available around the city closer to the time.

CCA has also been making an impression around the world. Co-Director Aileen Burns recently participated in a panel discussion at VISUAL Centre for Contemporary Art, Carlow. Burns has also been invited by the British Council to participate in a cultural exchange with Bangladesh and Pakistan in September with the opportunity to meet artists, curators and gallery directors from the independent sector.
