Curtis Magee and 'Absent Friends'

Strabane-born singer Curtis Magee is well on the way to the top of the charts again with the release of his brand new CD and DVD entitled 'Absent Friends'.

Curtis’s 22nd album on the Dungannon based label TC features 30 great tracks such as Tie a Yellow Ribbon, Baby Blue, and one of the most requested songs on the airwaves ‘There’s Life in the Auld Dog Yet”.

The DVD features special footage of Curtis live on stage throughout the North. Belfast features heavily too, and it was here that Curtis filmed his highly acclaimed tribute song to the late George Best entitled ‘Georgie’s Star’. Curtis was also fortunate enough to visit the place where George best grew up and even got the chance to meet George’s father, Dickie, who shared some wonderful stories about his iconic son. At his recent Fanfayre in Coleraine, Curtis was joined by fans from all over Ireland and the UK and raised a further 1,000 for the George Best Foundation, adding to the previous amount of 2,000 he raised at last year’s event.

Curtis continues to be pone of the busiest entertainers on the road today and has just returned from successful tours of the UK, Spain, Portugal as well as a cruise around the Mediterranean onboard The MSC Musica. He also received the highly acclaimed Best Solo Artiste of the Year award at the Lazy Acre Country Music Club in Shrewsbury for a record ninth time.

With 22 albums and eight DVDs to date, Curtis’ philosophy is simple, give the people what they want to hear and send them home dancing, still singing songs that have made the wee man Ireland’s No. 1. For more information, see: www.curtismagee.com
