Waiting for Video...

Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness predicted a “fantastic year” for Derry in 2013 when he spoke at a civic reception in the City Hotel on Thursday night following the launch of the City of Culture programme.

Around 300 people, mainly from business, politics and arts organisations, attended the reception, hosted by the Mayor Kevin Campbell. Other speakers included the head of the Culture Company, Shona McCarthy, and Foyle MP Mark Durkan. A presentation of flowers was made to Aideen McGinley to mark her departure from the job of chief executive of Ilex and her work for City of Culture.

Entertainment for the reception included Best Boy Grip, the Wonder Villains and a great turn by the Foyle College Jazz Ensemble.
