Derry shoot for 365 photo project
'Peace Bridge Kissers' - photographer James Hislop's January 10 photo - part of his involvement in the global 365 Project
A photographer is putting skills honed in Derry to use as part of a project aimed at capturing daily life over the course of 2013.
James Hislop, a photography student at North West Regional College, has included shots in and around the city in his contribution to the 365 Project - an international initiative in which some 80,0000 photographers are documenting a year of their life through the lens.
Among his 2013 snaps is a shot entitled ‘Peace bridge kissers’, captured on January 10 in Derry.
The 365 Project is a year long project where you take one photograph and publish it online every day for 365 days,” James told the ‘Journal’.
“The main objective of the project is to challenge the photographer in seeing images in places where they wouldn’t normally and experiment with new techniques.”
He said he has learned his craft firstly while studying for a City &Guilds course at the North West Regional College, before progressing to a two year photography diploma.
“With the skills I have learnt I wanted to challenge myself, I had heard about The 365 Project and I decided to give it a go,” he said.
