A three part series made by Derry television production company, 360 Productions, has been nominated for a prestigious national television award.

The three-part series, ‘Titanic with Len Goodman,’ was made by 360 Productions based on Derry’s Northland Road.

It aired on BBC1 in March and April during the commemorations of the centenary of the sinking of the famous passenger liner.

The series has been nominated in the Best Documentary Series category in the National Television Awards and the winner will be chosen by public vote.

The gala award ceremony will be broadcast live on ITV1 on January 23rd and will be attended by some of the leading lights of the television and entertainment industries.

In the documentary, the Strictly Come Dancing judge recalled his own connections with the Titanic when he was employed as a welder for Harland and Wolf, the company that built the Titanic, at their shipyard in east London.

The dancer met with relatives of the victims and survivors of the sinking of the Titanic and explored how the story still lives on one hundred years later.

360 Productions are no strangers to winning awards and have produced programmes for the BBC, National Geographic, and the Discovery Channel.

The company have been behind ‘James May’s Things you Need to Know’ and ‘Dig WW2 with Dan Snow.’

It will face tough competition in the documentary category and is up against shows such as ‘Big Fat Gypsy Wedding’, ‘One Born Every Minute,’ and ‘Frozen Planet.

Votes can be cast online at www.nationaltvawards.com until October 11.
