EOGHAN QUIGG TO PLAY AMELIA EARHART FESTIVAL

The '28,000 Friends' singer will join family favourites The Drifters, The Q, Balkan Alien Sound System, Ethan McDaid, Terrence Morrison and Here Come the Landed Gentry on the bill for the Amelia Earhart Festival.

In fact, more than 40 events, including fly-bys by the Letterkenny Flying Club and a vintage car rally have been planned for the event which runs from August 9th to the 19th.

This year's festival theme will be a celebration of the achievements of the local community.

"But the main attraction will be the first major homecoming gig by Eoghan Quigg," said festival organiser, Ollie Green.

The Greater Shantallow Community Arts Project representative said: "We are very excited to have secured a performance by Eoghan and demand for tickets is sure to be very high." In fact those tickets, costing only 2, will be distributed in the first instance though North West schools.

"In celebration of this, the 10th community festival in the Greater Shantallow area" said Mr. Green, "we are determined to deliver even greater value for money than ever before. Therefore we are selling the tickets to schools at the cheap rate and with every 100 sold we will add 20 free.

"Every year our objective has been to grow and develop the festival at both community and national level."
