A great evening took place on Friday night in the Parochial Hall, Plumbridge, at the launch of the ‘Rockin’ by the River’ Festival 2012, which will run from July 15 until July 22 in the heart of the Sperrins.

The Chairperson of Glenelly Festival, Kellie Morris welcomed the large crowd, which included Strabane District Councillors, various sponsors and representatives from local community groups and charities benefiting from the festival, including Fir Trees Hotel and O’Neill’s Sportswear, Strabane. Kellie invited charity representatives to speak, including the Jack and Jill Community Playgroup, TAMMA, Traditional Arts & Mixed Martial Arts Association, Tiny Life, Foyle Hospice, Plumbridge Cycle Club, NI Chest Heart and Stroke.

With just five weeks to go, ‘Rockin by the River’ Festival aspires to remain a regular summer attraction, with a revised line-up and by welcoming back a few festival favourites.

The committee are very lucky to have ‘The High Kings’ in the Dome as the opening act for 2012. This year welcomes onboard the Plumbridge Cycling club who have organised a 25/50m cycle to welcome all those who fancy a pedal, from various ends of the Irish Isles around our beautiful scenic valley.

Not forgetting The Crazy Folkers, Tyrone native Justin McGurk and the Boogie Men, who will end the festival in style.

Don’t miss Rockin’ by the River’ from July 15-22 in Glenelly.
