Hotels packed as Big Weekend clashes with Rotary conference

Derry hotels are already booked out for the duration of the One Big Weekend event as the BBC Radio One extravaganza clashes with a major international conference.

Many Rotary delegates from around the world have already booked into Derry for the annual Rotary International conference, which will also run from May 24-26. Many hotel rooms in the city have been booked by Rotarians well in advance, leaving those wishing to attend the One Big Weekend in the city to look elsewhere. The organisers of the event hope to attract more than 1,000 delegates for the weekend conference.

Karen Henderson, of Derry Visitor and Convention Bureau said the clash was something to be expected in “such a busy year”. She added that hotels in wider North West will reap the benefit from the two major events taking place at the same time in the city.

“It’s very likely that a lot of Donegal properties will be used which means will keep the business in the North West.
