The Playhouse is seeking female cellists, violists, harpists or violinists to enter the sensual world of the insatiable Frederick Hervey for The Playhouse’s next production for 2013!

The Playhouse stage will be transformed, capturing the rich tapestry of the most flamboyant Bishop ever known.

And The Playhouse is now calling for three female musicians who can play one of the following instruments- cello, viola, harp or violin, for an original score for the play.

Viewed as the first modern ‘European’ and one of the 18th Century’s great eccentrics, Bishop of Derry Frederick Augustus Hervey was a phenomenal Builder, art collector and a notorious womaniser. As Bishop of Derry, Hervey was known as “the most worldly, most eccentric, most talked-about priest in the Church of Ireland”

And now for the Playhouse newest addition to the city’s 2013 programme, writer and broadcaster Ken McCormack joins forces with esteemed Donegal director Caitríona McLaughlin, best known for her work on the stages of New York and London, for a new commission about ‘The Earl Bishop’s’ life and loves.

Caitríona will work with esteemed actor Howard Teale, and composer Adam Burnette, who made his conducting debut with the National Symphony Orchestra and has conducted and performed as a pianist throughout America, Canada and Ireland.

The musicians will feature as characters in the show and will be lit onstage in costume. Anyone interested can email producer Kieran Griffiths at Kieran@derryplayhouse.co.uk to organize an audition. ‘On the Subject of Love’ will preview at The Playhouse on Tuesday February 19 and run until Saturday February 23 at 8pm. Tickets are £14/ £10 and are available from The Playhouse Box Office on (028)71268027
