Nadine Coyle will be back home in Derry this weekend

Derry’s pop princess Nadine Coyle and Snow Patrol’s Gary Lightbody and Johnny McDaid have been added to the ‘Sons & Daughters - The Opening Concert’ City of Culture gig line up.

The Dvine Comedy’s Neil Hannon is also a late addition to the stellar line up for this Sunday’s concert at Ebrington. The latest confirmed performers join a line up already boasting Phil Coulter, The Undertones, Paul Brady, Damian McGinty, Gerard McChrystal, Amanda Burton, Dana, The Priests, Eva Birthistle, James Nesbitt and Codetta.

The show aims to reflect the Derry’s cultural, historical and industrial achievements in music, word and song and will take placce in The Venue, the new purpose-built pavilion at Ebrington.

Seen as the first major gig of the 2013 Culture year - will be recorded for BBC Northern Ireland television and broadcast live on the night on BBC Radio Ulster.

The city’s Mayor Cllr Kevin Campbell said he was looking forward to concert:

“The Sons and Daughters concert will allow us to celebrate our excellent musical and cultural talent for which we are so renowned.

“We are delighted to offer the public the chance to see the city’s most loved musicians and performers come together in their home town for a free concert.”

More than 11000 people applied for the 2000 avaialble tickets. Doors open at 6.30pm on Sunday night and the concert will begin at 7.45pm.
