National show for Stephen

Local radio presenter Stephen McCauley will be broadcasting on the national BBC 6 Music next week when he stands in for Gideon Coe.

Broadcasting every evening from Monday 11th to Thursday 14th February from 11pm to midnight, the knowledgeable music buff is delighted to be given the opportunity.

Speaking to the ‘Journal’ yesterday he said: “I’m over the moon. It’s been an ambition of mine ever since I started on radio to be on BBC 6 Music.

“I have a total affinity with the station and their ethos. They care about music and they explore new music which is perfect for me.”

And of course, there will be a number of local acts making his playlist. He continued: “I will be including some Derry artists and other acts from across Northern Ireland, but I’m only including them because they make good music.

“For me, that’s what it’s about, I only play what I think is good.”

But despite his good fortune, Stephen insists that he is still “very, very committed” to his shows on Radio Foyle and Radio Ulster.

“Electric Mainline was something I made happen seven years ago and I really enjoy what it’s about.”

Stephen McCauley will be doing four shows on BBC 6 Music next week, from Monday to Thursday from 11pm-midnight.
