New cinema season at the Nerve Centre
The new cinema season in the Nerve Centre kicks off next Monday, 6th February with Pedro Almodovar’s latest film ‘The Skin I Live In’. Other highlights include Woody Allen’s love letter to the capital of romance Paris with ‘Midnight in Paris’ while the fascinating docu-drama ‘Dreams of a Life’ proves that real life is often stranger than fiction. This is the story of Joyce Vincent who died in her London bed-sit in 2003, but is was three years before her body was discovered still surrounded by the Christmas presents she was wrapping and with the television still turned on. This film attempts to gain some insights into Joyce’s life by talking to her friends and colleagues, and elicts some heartbreaking moments from her interviewees.
Valentine’s Day will be celebrated with a double bill of classic and contemporary films and a complimentary glass of wine: the classic’Brief Encounter’ and contemporary movie ‘One Day’. Other highlights include Miss Bala,Snow Flower And The Secret Fan, Of Gods and Men, The Way, Sarah Palin: You Betcha! and My Week With Marilyn.
This year the Foyle Film Festival’s Intercultural & Anti Racism Programme will take place over ten days from Wednesday 21-Friday 30 March. For the seventh consecutive year, this important annual event offers primary, post-primary schools, colleges, community groups, and the general public, a programme of international films, documentaries, presentations, workshops, and outreach screenings, exploring the themes and issues involved.
