‘New Noise’ debut at new live band night in Masons

Derry’s rockers are celebrating the launch of a new live band night.

Masons bar will host the ‘New Noise’ event on a monthly basis and according to promoter Paul Monk, the night is about giving local bands the chance to get gigs under their belt while also showcasing the best Northern Irish talent.”

“Billy Campbell, proprietor of Masons Bar is 100% behind local live and original music so this is exactly what you’d expect of the venue,” added Paul.

The gigs will be held on the last Friday of every month. New Noise will also celebrate a link up with Derry’s comic book heroes Uproar Comics and the first twenty through the doors will receive a copy of an Uproar comic or a ‘zombified’ portrait.

Paul explains: “We want to showcase the best talent we have to offer obviously we couldn’t ignore our friends at Uproar who are doing great work. It is about music complimenting art and vice versa.”

Back to the music and the inaugural session of New Noise will be headlined by In Case of Fire, who make a welcome return to the city after a hiatus of a few years.

Rock bible Kerrang! magazine described the band’s debut offering as “splendid.” In fact the magazine was only too happy to have the Northern Irish three piece join them on their UK wide Kerrang! Relentless Energy Drink Tour, in 2009.

Also on the bill are BBC Electric Mainline presenter, Stephen McCauley, Humanshield and making their debut, Making Monsters.

Monsters also happen to be Paul Monk’s new guise. Having tasted success with No Mean City in the recent past, Monk joins forces with Dee Mullan and Brian Doherty formerly of Hybris and lead singer Emma Gallagher.

“I’m really enjoying this band, we are able to get to a slightly heavier sound than Mean City so I’m really looking forward to the show.”

New Noise will be heard upstairs in Masons Bar from 10pm this Friday, January 27.
