Open public meeting on Culture concerns
An open public meeting has been called tomorrow afternoon, October 17, to address ongoing concerns about preparations for Derry’s City of Culture year.
Organisers hope to attract a wide audience for the meeting and hope that all voluntary and community organisations, local artists, writers and individuals will attend tomorrow’s meeting at 2.30pm in the Craft Village’s Thatched Cottage.
The widely-circulated email invitation read: “We are a group of organisations who are concerned about the lack of involvement from people living in the North West. This includes individual artists, writers, local organisations, also people from all backgrounds and ethnicities.”
The following issues are to be raised on the agenda - lack of communications, local and multicultural involvements, matters of culture and faith, adhering to proper deadlines, inadequate timescales for any notices and also the issue of outsourcing (catering, artists, talents).
It is understood that the Mayor of Derry, local MLAs and Councillors have also been invited to the meeting at 2.30pm tomorrow afternoon in the Craft Village.
All are welcome to attend and take part .
