Radio One Big Weekend and Olly Murs for Derry
Radio One have announced that their ‘Big Weekend’ will be held in Derry this year with headline act Olly Murs.
On his popular breakfast show this morning, broadcast live from Ebrington, Radio One DJ Nick Grimshaw (Grimmy) announced that the weekend will be “bigger and better” than ever - with one extra day added.
The Big Weekend has never been to the same place twice until this year, in Derry. The last time it was in the city was in 2004.
Other acts who will play at the music festival include Two Door Cinema Club. More performers will be revealed before the actual event.
Speaking live on air Olly Murs from LA said the weekend would be “incredible” adding that the people of Derry would love it.
“Northern Ireland is a lovely place,” he said. “It will be fun.”
The Radio One Breakfast Show revealed details of the Big Weekend just before 8 this morning.
Grimmy said the event, which will run from May 24 - 26, will be “massive” adding that tickets will be free.
Details of how to get tickets will be revealed in the coming weeks.
