When Hannah Jack used to flick through the pages of fashion bible ‘Vogue’ each month, she never dreamed that one day she would be working for the number one magazine.

The Limavady woman starts work at the vogue.fr (the magazine’s website) next week, and she can’t wait.

“I’m really looking forward to it, but it still doesn’t seem real,” she told the ‘Journal’ yesterday, during a quick trip home. I’m in my bedroom and I’m looking at the covers of Vogue posted on my wardrobe, and it just doesn’t seem real!”

Hannah has been living in Paris for the past eight months, working at a recruitment agency as part of her placement year from the University of Bath, where she’s studying French and Spanish.

The eagle-eyed 21-year-old spotted an advertisement on Twitter from Vogue looking for someone for a three-month placement for translation work on their website and Facebook page.

“It was by chance I saw it so I enquired and they sent me a translation test and asked me to send off my CV. I did the test and I got a reply saying they really liked it, and my application.”

Hannah was subsequently invited for an interview, and says she spent ages fretting over her outfit.

“They basically offered me the job,” she said, explaining she had to re-arrange a trip to South America as part of her placement.

“I was flat out sending emails for three days, but I knew I would regret it if I didn’t do it,” she said. “I think it will be really cool knowing what’s happening around the world before everyone else, even if it’s just a few seconds before everyone else sees it. It will be quite intensive, but I love being in Paris and I’m glad to be able to get extra time there. Winter is disappearing and I love working and living there. There are always so many different things to do.”

Hannah also realises having ‘Vogue’ on her CV will be impressive.

“It’s known worldwide and it’s a magazine I have bought all my life, and it won’t do my translation work any harm either!”
