Kennedy Family's kind donation to Stroke Unit

A local couple decided to forego presents during their recent 50th wedding anniversary and instead asked family and friends for donations to a worthy cause.

Helen and William Kennedy had first hand experience with the levels of care offered by staff in Altnagelvin’s Stroke Unit and decided to give something back.

As a result, The Western Health and Social Care Trust (Western Trust) Stroke Unit at Altnagelvin Hospital received a generous donation of two guest beds and colouring books from the Kennedy family, who live near Claudy. In 2013, Mr Kennedy spent some time in Altnagelvin’s Stoke Unit, and the family said they wanted to thank the unit for the excellent care he received.

From the money raised, the family purchased two guest beds for relatives of patients staying in the unit and a variety of colouring books and colouring pencils.

In addition to donating to the Stroke Unit, the Kennedy family also gave £100.00 to Chest Heart and Stroke.

All of the donations were gratefully received by staff at the Western Trust.
