Here is a picture of a Carndonagh Football Club team before their first ever game in the Inishowen league forty years ago.

Taken sometime between 1972 and 1973 the Inishowen men beat Kildrum Tigers of Carrigans in a final played at Maginn Park in Buncrana.

Their next game was another final against Westbrook Buncrana [now known as Cockhill Celtic]

The Carn men won both games and subsequently booked a room in the Lake of Shadows Hotel where they, their friends and the opposing teams joined them for a great night’s craic, dancing and a sing-song.

Before they helped establish the Inishowen League, the men from Carndonagh, along with Moville, and Buncrana played in the D&D [Derry and District] League in Derry.
