The matter was raised at the recent Health and Community meeting of Derry City and Strabane District Council.

Backing the move, Sperrin Independent Councillor Paul Gallagher said: “There’s a lot of jobs and job security in jeopardy because of the lockdowns so I think we should support this.”

Sinn Féin Councillor Ruairi McHugh proposed the recommendation, which was seconded by SDLP Councillor Sean Mooney.

The recommendation will now go to Derry City & Strabane District Council’s Full Council meeting on December 17 to be ratified.
