Big turnout at farewell for Malin priest

A farewell social night was held in Malin Head Community Hall for Fr. Peter Deeney on Friday last.
A great turn out from all over the parish turned up to wish him well. Presentations were made to Fr. Deeney on behalf of the Parish, the Malin Head Community Association, the National Schools, the Mock Wedding Group and the two Youth Clubs. Refreshme
nt were served and a great night with local musicians playing was had by all.

The Legion of Mary annual pilgrimage to Knock takes place on Sunday, 30th September. Bus fare, including full evening meal is 38 euro. Bus departs Malin Town at 8am. To book, telephone Patricia Mullan on 9370130 or Teresa Glackin on 9370523.

Glengad Youth Club: Registration night will be held to-night Friday, 21st. between 8pm – 9pm with the youth club starting on Wednesday night, 26th Sept. Please note that parents must be present to register and must be willing to help with supervision during the year.

An Inishowen Regional Pioneer Dinner Dance will take place in the Lake of Shadows Hotel, Buncrana, on Friday, 28th September. Music is by Lorenzo and dinner is served at 9pm. There will be spot prizes and a fun night of entertainment is promised. Tickets cost €18 and are available from Eugune 9370852, Liam 9370039 and Martin 9379267.

There will be a bus going to Knock for the annual pilgrimage of The Legion of Mary on Sunday, September 30th. For more information contact Teresa on 074 9370523.

The Legion of Mary meet every Monday night in the Old National School , Malin Town at 8.15pm. New members are welcome.

Inishowen Speech and Drama classes will resume again in September for Glengad, Malin and Malin Head areas. Names are now being taken. Contract Shane on 086 1055972 and Movania on 086 8895054.

Parents and Toddlers can now meet up at Playdays Playgroup in Middletown, every Wednesday from 10am to 12 noon. Why not come along and meet other like-minded parents.

Malin Stables would like to let all old and new customers that it is now under new management. If you would like to make a booking or have any questions regarding lessons or times please contact Laura on 0863839644.

Inishowen Disability Action Group and the Irish Wheelchair Association are urgently looking for volunteers to help out at Milltown House, Carndonagh, for a few hours on Mondays. You do not need to be a swimmer - just willing and able. Volunteers are also needed to act as bus assistants. Training will be provided. Back to School Allowance : The Back to School Clothing and Foot-ware scheme 2007 will operate to 30th September. Application forms are available from your local Community Welfare Officer at your local Health centre.

Malin GAA

There is a FAS position currently available at the GAA centre. This position would be very beneficial to any young person who views a career in childcare as the club will put them through the child awareness course and coaching up to level 1 standard as well as CPR and first aid courses. Any young people wishing to represent Malin in Scor na nOg this year (solo singing, ballad group, dancing, quiz team, musicians) should contact Jacqueline Houton 086 0712223 as soon as possible.

The Mary Houton memorial tournament began last Saturday among the senior ladies, after the first week the girls from Malin Town lead the way from Malin Head and Glengad although this can all change before the end of the competition.

There was no winner of this week's lotto jackpot. The sequence drawn was 1,2,7,3,5,6,4. Hugh McColgan, Malin Town, won the 50euro prize with the 20euro sellers prize going to McCleans Bar, Malin. Next weeks jackpot is 650euro and, as always, we thank the local community for its continued support.

Malin have new club gear available in McCleans with Jackets, Hooded Tops, Polo Shirts(choice of two) and Tracksuits for all sizes. Orders should be placed with Enda McClean. Anyone who has placed orders should collect gear from McCleans as soon as possible.
