Local girl up for top award: Michelle Doherty from Glengad has been nominated for top entertainment award of the year. Michelle has only been in televisio
n for two years and hosts the music programme 'The Night Shift' on the new Channel 6 station. She has been selected as one of only eight nominees for the Film and Television Awards TV Personality of the year and the eventual winner is selected by public vote, via text and website. The voting for Michelle will close on February 11th and she hopes that the people of Glengad and indeed Inishowen will send in their votes for her.
Congratulations to Paul Lafferty, Glengad and Rosarie Monagle, Malin Town who passed out at last week's gradulation ceremony at the Garda training collage in Templemore, Co. Tipperary.Paul will be stationed at Westport, Co. Mayo and Rosarie will be stationed at Store Street in Dublin.
Can you sew? For the Season of Lent, the three chapels in the parish need a altar-cloth and hanging for the ambo made in purple material. All three chapels would use the same colour and pattern. A Special course for parents or anyone involved with children will be held in St. Mary's N.S. Malin Head on Mondays from 10am-12noon, starting to-day Friday 28th January for seven weeks. The official opening of the GAA centre has been set for Sunday, 4th May(May Bank Holiday weekend), where an Inishowen select side will meet the Donegal senior team, more details to follow.
Training for the Senior Ladies side for 2008 begins on Saturday,16th February at 5-00pm at the GAA centre, all of last years side plus new ladies welcome.
Indoor football for senior ladies takes place on Thursday evenings from 8-30 to 9-30pm, all ladies are welcome to come along.
Training for U-8 boys takes place every Sunday in the GAA centre from 11-00 to Midday.
There was no winner of this week's lotto jackpot. The sequence drawn was 6,3,7,1,5,4,2. Nuala Doherty, Malin Head, won the 50euro prize with the 20euro sellers prize going to Gerard Doherty(N), Malin Head.. Next weeks jackpot now stands at 700euro.
