The death occurred recently of Paddy Farren, Glentoskert, Glengad, at the age of 82.
Paddy belonged to a well known and respected fishing family, and he worked all his life as a fisherman along with his brother Mickey sadly now deceased too.
Paddy was a quiet family man with an unassuming nature who always provided well for his
wife and family. He enjoyed good health up until a few years ago when it started to deteriorate. The large crowds who attended his wake and funeral reflected the esteem in which Paddy was held. His requiem Mass took place at St. Patricks Church, Aughaclay was celebrated by Fr. Pater Devlin, P.P. Malin.
The readers were his granddaughters Nuala Doherty and Majella McCallion. The gifts were taken up by Sheila Mc Dermott, Christopher Mc Clay (god-children) Brian Mc Clay and Rose O'Connor, all grand-children. Music in the Church was provided by Shunie Crampsey. Paddy is survived by his wife Celia, his daughters Marion and Eddie Doherty, Ross Head, and Sheila and Tommy Mc Clay, Glentoskert; his sister Sadie, Manchester, and Mary who is in Carndonagh Community Hospital; his eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren to whom deepest sympathy is extended.
