The death has occurred of Neil Farren, Faherna, Culdaff. Neil was the eldest of seven children, growing up in Gortinaren and then Faherna.
At 18 he left to work in N. Ireland, moving on to England, where in London he met and married his wife Mary and had 3 children, Shelagh, John and Neil. Through hard work Neil started his own roofing business, working all over the UK and Ireland. One
of the contracts they carried out, and of which he was very proud, was the roofing of the old Wembley Stadium.
In 1986 Neil and Mary retired to live in Ireland and whilst Neil's health allowed, he enjoyed breeding horses and his membership, and Chairmanship of the Inishowen Horse Breeders Association. As Neil's health deteriorated, he went into Carndonagh Community Hospital 2 years ago where he was fabulously cared for until his death.
The large number of people that called to his home and attended his funerial reflected the high extreme in which he was held. His requiem Mass was celebrated in St. Patrick's Church, Aughaclay, by Fr. Brian Brady, P.P. Interment took place in adjoining cemetery. Deepest sympathy is extended to his wife Mary, daughter Shelagh and sons John and Neil. His brother John and Teresa, his sisters Rose and Dan, Mary and Pat, and grandchildren Caiti, Sophie and Joe and the extended family circle. May he rest in peace.
