Save Malin Head Coastguard Station

The station is under threat of closure in a government plan to move jobs to a new base on the east coast.
The meeting will begin at 4pm and everyone interested in ensuring the survival of the station for the safety of the fishermen is urged to come along on Sunday.
There will be a gathering in the Community Centre, Glengad next Thursday night 31st. Jan
uary at 8.15pm to make St. Brigid's crosses. Light refreshment. Everyone welcome old and young.
A special course for parents or anyone involved with children will be held in St. Mary's N.S. Malin Head on Mondays from 10am-12noon, starting on Friday 28th January for seven weeks. The course 'Storiessacks' is about making props and aids to accompany stories. The course is free. For information contact Maura on 086 6052424.
There will be a ceili mor on Friday 8th February, in St. Patrick's Hall, Malin Town with proceeds going to Urblereagh National School. Dancing from 10pm-1am. Music by the Cottage Ceili Band. Admission is 5 euro, including supper. Urblereagh N.S. is 150 years old this year and there will be a reunion in August.
Volunteers are required for all area of the parish except Drumcarbit and Leitir for Lenten Stations. Contact Fr. Brian on 9370615 or Fr. Brendan on 9370134.
There will be new Job seeking programmes beginning in the New Year in Buncrana, Carndonagh and Moville. If you wish to apply for jobs contact The Job Centre Staff on 074 9361376.
Pre-marriage courses will be available in the Pastoral Centre, Carndonagh, on the following dates: 25th/26th January 2008; 22nd/23rd February 2008; 28th/29th March 2008; 25th/26th April 08; 30th/31st May 2008. Courses are from 8pm-10pm on Friday nights and from 10am-5pm on the Saturday. Application forms available from the Pastoral Centre on 9374103between 10.30 am – 12.30 pm.
A DVD "The End of an Era" is now on sale, it describes how turf were cut, footed, changed footed and then wheeled to the stack, where they would be collected and brought home to provide a fire. Taking part in the DVD are Larry, Gerry, Neil and Leo Mc Farland, Joe Mc Elhinney and Harry Mc Daid, all from Carndonagh. The DVD is 12euro and the proceeds will be donated to the Alzheimer's Unit of Carndonagh Community Hospital. DVD are available from Larry Mc Farland, Tel. 0868948241 or Harry Mc Daid, 074 9374703.
Carndonagh Community School extends a very special invitation to the parents of former and current pupils to a Guest Tea Reunion to be held in The Sports Hall on Friday, 22nd February. Tickets are on sale in all areas.

Malin GAA - The annual dinner dance takes place tomorrow night in the Malin Hotel with music by Shunie and Hugh P. Special guest for the evening is Terence McGinley, Donegal Development Officer. Tickets are priced at 25euro with dinner served at 9pm sharp. This is always a very popular function so tickets should be ordered as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Tickets are available from usual committee members.
Indoor football for senior ladies takes place on Thursday evenings from 8-30 to 9-30pm, all ladies are welcome to come along.
Training for U-8 and U-10 girls takes place on Friday's in the GAA centre from 6-30 to 7-30, all girls within the above age groups welcome.
Training for U-8 boys continues on Sundays in the GAA centre from 11am to midday.
There was no winner of this week's lotto jackpot of 500 euro. The sequence drawn was 4,,7,5,3,2,1. Pat Doherty(Babie),Slieveban, won the 50euro prize with the 20euro sellers prize going to Seamus Doherty(PM), Malin Head. Next week's jackpot now stands at 600euro. As always, the club thanks the local community for its continued support.
Fresh stock of club gear has arrived in McCleans, anyone who has recently placed orders for club gear should collect from McCleans as soon as possible.
