There was a large turnout on Friday 27 October for the funeral mass of the late Kathleen Hegarty of Shrove.
The funeral mass which was celebrated by Father McGoldrick assisted by Fr Paddy O' Kane, PP and Fr George McLaughlin, PP, took place in St Mary's Church, Ballybrack followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery where Kathleen was buried with her late
husband and Foyle Pilot, George. Kathleen, who was known locally as Mum to her family, friends and neighbours passed away peacefully on Wednesday 24 October following a lengthy illness, much of which was spent under the excellent professional care of staff at Carndonagh Community Hospital. As her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy, it was only fitting that each of her children's family was represented during the service. The readings were read by Karen McCormick and Seamus Hegarty, while the prayers of the faithful were read by Ronan and Ciara Hegarty, Geraldine McDonald, Amy and Gemma Hegarty. Mick and Kay Cavanagh carried up gifts along with Caroline Doherty and Tara Hegarty, Mum's youngest grandchild. The service was completed with an emotional tribute to Mum by her granddaughter Aoife who spoke on behalf of all of Mum's grandchildren and great grandchildren. Michael Cavanagh kindly sang during the service while James L Bovaird gave a beautiful rendition of I'll Take You Home Again, Kathleen – one of Mum's favourite songs which her late husband George used to sing to her. Mum will be sadly missed by everyone in Shrove not least her sisters Bridget O' Donnell and Anna Gillespie, her children Marian, Sally, Georgie, Jimmy and Kay and all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The course starts on November 8th from 8pm to 10pm. It is being held in the Moville Day Centre, below the Moville Health Centre. The course is free and is run by the HSE North West Area's parenting programme, Fas Le Cheile (Growing Together). To book a place and for more information contact Mary McKinney on 074 93 85548.
