Sorrow at passing of Michael McCarron

The people of Moville and its environs were numb with shock at the death of Mr. Michael McCarron, Malin Road, Moville, father of the late Brian whose anniversary occurs shortly.
Michael was one of Moville's most respected gentlemen. He was very well known when he was a bus conductor with Lough Swilly and always helpful. A true gentleman, he had a word for everyone who knew him. He was an excellent husband to Nan, father to M
ichelle, Aidan, Shane and will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, brother and sisters, neighbours and friends.

His Funeral Mass in St. Pius X, Moville concelebrated by Fr. Michael Carney, St. Eunan's Letterkenny and Fr. Paddy O'Kane P.P. Moville to an overflowing congregation and where Michael attended daily Mass. The readers were Mrs Mary Gillen sister-in-law and his son Shane. The Psalm was song by the Moville Folk Choir. Prayers of the Faithful were by his grandchildren Cathy McCarron, Conor, Emma, Carron Griffin. The Moville Folk Choir rendered beautifully Michael's favourite hymns. The gifts were taken to the altar by his wife Nan and family. Michael was laid to rest in St. Mary's, Ballybrack, Fr. Michael Carney and Fr. P O'Kane officiated. The chief mourners were his wife Nan, daughter Michelle, sons Aidan and Shane, sister Sadie and Don McInerney, Brigid and Hugh McGuiness, May and Patsy Barr, brother John and Ena and grandchildren, Marion Harkin, MEP, and an large group of friends.

Inishowen Community Radio is holding a training course in radio production techniques for members of the Polish Community living in the North-West. These sessions will be held on 22nd September and 29th September. Both training sessions will be held in the studios of ICR fm in Carndonagh from 12pm to 3pm. Anyone who is interested in taking part in this training course should contact Emma or Trudy at the station on 074 9329105 from Northern Ireland (0035374). Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. This course is free of charge, refreshments will be provided on the day. Course notes will be available in Polish and there will be an interpreter present each day.

Soccer training for Senior Infants to under 10s starts again on Monday 17th September from 6pm to 7pm at the Bay Field. The cost is 2 euro per week to be paid on signing in at 5.55pm upon arrival at the training session. Please ensure that your children and any other children you bring to training do this because for insurance purposes we need the names of all those present. Children who are being collected are not permitted to leave the field without a parent, so please arrive promptly at 6.55pm and come down to the field to pick them up.

The Cancer Support Group will meet in Serenity House on Monday 24th September at 7.30pm. All are welcome.

The Serenity House Women's 'Walk and Talk' group will meet in Carrowmena Community Centre on Monday 24th September 2007. All women from the area welcome.

Names are being taken for an ECDL course for fifth and sixth class Primary School children which will run in Serenity House, Moville on Wednesday 4pm to 6pm. For further information contact Serenity House on 9382945. The cost of this course is €5 per class.

Beginners Oil Painting; Combined Holistic Therapies; Computer Maintenance; Crochet (Irish); Decoupage; ECDL; ECDL Advanced Word; Email and Internet; English Quilting; First Aid; Handstitch Patchwork; Intermediate Oil Painting; Introduction to Electronics; Jewellery Making; Sketching/Drawing; Stress Management; Basic Computers; JEB Teachers' Diploma in ICT Skills; Sage Computerised Accounts Stage 1, 2 and 3.

There are still a few places remaining for the Certificate in Preparatory Studies (formerly known as the Foundation Certificate) which takes place in Serenity House, Moville this Autumn. This is a one year full time course specially designed for mature students returning to education who would ultimately continue to third level. A Cultural Links Project for young people from 14 to 17 years will be run one evening a week for 6 weeks starting at the end of September. Sessions are free and will last for 1 to 1 ½ hours. Sessions involve teambuilding, fun, games and activities. The last session will be a trip out. For enquiries or to book a place call Mary McKinney on 074 85548.

The organisers of the very successful charity night in the Standalone Ceili House last Friday for the "Friends of Letterkenny Hospital", sincerely thank all those who attended on the night, donated cash or prizes for the raffle.

The annual Legion of Mary pilgrimage to Knock takes place on Sunday 30th September. A bus will leave the Square at 8am. Please take a packed lunch. The cost of the trip is 20 euro. To book a place, please phone 9382295 or 9382334.
