On Tuesday next Garda Patrick (Pat) Keaveney will retire from An Garda Siochana after 36 years of loyal service ot the State, 34 of which he spent serving the people of Muff.
To celebrate this remarkable achievement the Gardai at Muff are planning a celebratory function at the Carlton Redcastle Hotel at 8.30pm on Friday, June 12. Tickets for this event will cost €20 and this includes a full buffet followed by live entert
ainemtn with Liam Atcheson. Tickets are available from any member of An Garda Siochana at Muff Garda Station. Ticketrs are also available from Seamus Lynch (Butcher), Main St., Muff, Michael McMenamin, Aught, Muff, as well as retired sergeant, John McPhillips.
This promises to be a great night for all to celebrate the career of such a long standing member of the Gardai. Members of the foce in the village would like to state publicly that Garda Keaveney will be greatly missed from the force and they wish him a long, happy and healthy retirement into the future.
The local community would also like to extend our very good wishes to Pat on his retirement. He was a familiar figure on the street and always had a listening ear. He also took a great interest in local activities. He was fair minded and good humoured in his dealings with residents. They too wish Pat a long, happy and healthy retirment.
Collette Barrett, Sumerhill Cottages, Muff, got the surprise of her life when she looked out the window on Friday moring to discover a beautiful swan in her back garden. After contacting various people without success, she contacted the Shaun Doherty Show on Highland Radio, who put her in touch with Kevin McGinley of the ISPCA. When he arrived at the house he took the injured bird to the local vet who discovered that its feathers and wings had been weakend by parasites. After treatment the swan was returned to its natural habitat at Inch.

The monthly meeting of the Apostolic Workers will be held in the Conference Room next Tuesday, June 2nd. at 8p.m. A full turn out of members would be appreciated as preparation for the annual Flag Day will be on the agenda.

The variety market which usually takes place in St. Mary's Community Hall on Sundays, will not be held this week on account of stall holders' prior commitments. It will take place the following Sunday, June 7th at the usual time - 1pm for stall holders, 2pm. for the general public.
The Taylor family would like to thank all who supported them in their fundraising dance in aid of the Oncology Unit at Letterkenny General Hospital which was held recently in the Rock Bar. The total amount raised through ticket sales and donations was €6,185.

The Muff Choir CD for iCare will be launched next Saturday at the Halfway House, Burnfoot. The choir will be on stage from 10pm to 11pm. The local launch will be on Sunday next in St. Mary's Community Hall after 11.30 a.m. Mass. All welcome to come to the hall aftewards, a cup of tea will be provided. The CD will cost €10. The choir and parents would like the people of Inishowen for their overwhelming support for this venture. Congratulations to the following members of the Pioneer Assocation who received their Gold Pins, (signifying 50 years total abstinence from alcohol) from Fr. John Farren PP, after Mass in the Sacred Heart Church, Muff - Ellen McReynolds, Patricia Butler, Mary Harkin, John Coyle, Liam Harkin, Patrick McCarron, all from Muff; also Billy Smith, originally from Derry now living in Perth, Australia, he also received the Gold Pin on hehalf of his brother, Fr. Joe , who is based in Gravesend in Kent.
