It was a memorable occasion in Muff last Tuesday when a large number of local people, members of the clergy, local councillors and a member of the Senate witnessed the cutting of the first sod for the Muff Sheltered Housing Project.
This is a great achievement for the hard working committee who deserve the highest praise also to Mr. Jack Dismore whose generosity in making available the site for the project. Refreshments were served in Knowhead Presbyterian Church Hall after the
ceremony.
St. Mary's Community Hall is the place to be this Sunday, 2nd December when the annual Christmas Bazaar organised by the Muff branch of the Apostolic Workers will take place. As in other years there will be fantastic prizes at the Rickety Wheel, also the usual stalls, bottle, white elephant and cake stall. Santa will make a personal appearance at around 4p.m. to receive letters, so please make an effort to come along on Sunday - all monies raised going to the Missions. Tickets for a raffle are now on sale from committee members with the 1st prize, a hamper, the 2nd prize a Christmas cake and 3rd prize a large tin of sweets. Tickets are 2 euro a strip.
The area of Muff has once again been the scene of yet another tragic death when a young Derry man died in an horrific car crash at Drumhaggart on Sunday morning at around 4.30a.m. Two other young males who were passengers in the car are being treated in hospital for serious injuries, a third passenger is also being treated for minor injuries. Local people are shocked and saddened by this recent accident, maybe a lesson can be learned from this to drive carefully and avoid the heartbreak caused to families especially coming into the festive season.
Moville Community School is holding their annual Cake Sale in the school on Thursday, 13th December at 7.30 p.m. Your support would be appreciated.
The Parents' Association of Scoil Naomh Brid, Muff, are holding a Book Sale in the school hall tomorrow between 1p.m. and 3p.m. All books 50 cent. No further donations of books required. Your support is much appreciated.
Winners in this week's Parish Draw were - 300 euro, Margaret Barr, Grove Cottages; 200 euro, Margo Harkin, Grove Cottages; and 100 euro, Martin Glenn, Carry Road.
'Good Evening Inishowen' is looking for volunteers, if interested in information - phone 9321598.
The Tuesday Club has been up and running for the past four months. Members meet in St. Mary's Community Hall on Tuesdays from 2p.m. to 4p.m. and they take part in a variety of activities, have a cup of tea and a wee chat. The Club is open to anyone with 'time on their hands' male or female to come along. The club is open to any ideas for further activities. Fourteen of the group travelled to Derry last Tuesday to see South Pacific in the Millennium Forum. This is just the first of many trips they hope to avail of in the future.
The proceeds of John Kieran Doherty's C.D. 'New Love' will be handed over to the Donegal and Carndonagh Hospices at a dance in the Squealin' Pig tonight and a Celtic Shirt will be raffled during the evening. Admission is 5 euro. Please support this very worthy cause.
Naomh Padraig GAA: The numbers drawn in this week's lotto were 5,4,7,1,3,6 and 2. There was no jackpot winner, however 30 euro went to Brendan Doherty, Rock Bar and Mary Curran, Muff. Next week's jackpot will be 5,100 euro.
The club will be holding a table quiz in the Ture Inn tonight Friday at 10 p.m. All proceeds are going towards the defibrillator fund.
The under age presentation will take place in the clubhouse on Sunday, 2nd December and there will also be a Night at the Races, in the Squealin' Pig on Friday, 7th December at 9.30 p.m. and a bazaar in the Clubhouse on Sunday, 9th December.
