There was a deep sense of shock and sadness in the area when it was learned of the sudden death of Pat McLaughlin, Ardmore, Muff.
Pat, who was a life long supporter of Finn Harps football team took ill after his favourite team scored a goal at a match in Ballybofey and although every assistance was given, he could not be resuscitated. He was the eldest son of the late James an
d Anne McLaughlin and became, like his father, a farmer and butcher. He worked in Carndonagh for many years and was a familiar figure in many homes where he made his meat deliveries at weekends. With a quiet nature, Pat enjoyed the simple things in life, pottering around the yard and keeping the garden hedges in order. He loved reading the daily newspapers to keep up to date with current affairs and farming news.
He is survived by his wife Anne, son Stephen, daughters Joanne, Claire and Yvonne and grandchildren to all of whom deepest sympathy is extended. He was predeceased by his son Paul some years ago. Fr. John Farren and Fr. Colm Morris concelebrated the Requiem Mass in the Sacred Heart Church and Fr. John Ryder was also present. The Lessons werre read by Paul Anderson and Ruaidhri Horan, sons-in-law and the Offertory Gifts were presented by his daughters Claire and Yvonne and his grandsons Sean Anderson and Cormac Horan. The beautiful music in the church was provided by the Brogan Family, Muff and the Horan Family, Sligo. Pat will be sadly missed in the community. May he rest in peace.
