Preparations are underway for the centenary celebrations for one of Derry’s oldest primary schools.
Longtower Boys school opened in 2014 and the current school, which has since merged to cater for both boys and girls, is planning an extensive programme of celebrations to mark the milestone.
School principal, Joyce Logue, said a committee is being set up to co-ordinate the anniversary celebrations and called for past pupils to get involved.
The first meeting of the centenary committee will be held in Longtower Primary School, Bishop Street, on Monday evening at 7.30.
“This will be a big year for Longtower Primary School and we want to make it as memorable as possible and involve as many people as we can.
“We are particularly keen to involve past pupils in the celebrations would welcome any past pupils on to he anniversary committee to share their memories,” the principal said.
