The PSNI have launched a new telephone number for non emergency calls.
A spokesman for the PSNI in Foyle said any member of the public wanting to speak to police about a non-emergency matter should now dial 101.
The new number replaces the 0845 600 8000 telephone line.
The PSNI spokesman said the new 101 number will offer real benefits for both the police and the public.
“If you are making a general enquiry, wanting to pass on information about crime in your area, or reporting a crime that has already happened then 101 non-emergency is the number to call.
“If a crime is in progress, or somebody is in immediate danger, always call 999,” he said.
