40 people rescued in just four months

Over 40 people have been stopped from entering the River Foyle by members of Foyle Search and Rescue in the first four months of 2014 alone, the Journal has learned.

In all the volunteers have responded to almost 80 incidents so far this year.

The life-saving charity will benefit from fundraising at the first Derry Journal People of the Year awards gala, to be held in late August.
