The huge illuminated ‘Stitch in Time’ sign by artist Tim Etchells which was erected on the top of the Rosemount Factory as part of Lumiere festival, has ‘minimal’ running costs.

The sign, costing £50,000, was left behind as part of the Legacy of the City of Culture year in 2013.

Helen Marriage, Director of Artichoke said, “Right from the start of planning Lumiere in Derry, we wanted to make sure there was a legacy project and this was always a strong contender.

“We were delighted that The Department for Culture Arts and Leisure agreed to provide capital funding for the artwork, and that Derry City Council took on ownership and responsibility for the project, which currently has planning permission up to 31st December 2017.

“The running costs are minimal as it is LED – so it literally costs just a few pence an hour.”
