SDLP Councillor for Creggan, Jim Clifford, has welcomed the news that Road Service will place additional traffic calming measures on Creggan Heights.

Confirming that two additional speed ramps will be constructed at the Northern (Glenowen) end of Creggan Heights, Colr. Clifford said: “Following discussions with head of Road Service, Sean Mullan, the SDLP have argued that as well as replacing the ramps which were removed for re-surfacing, additional measures should be put in place where the accident happened. I am glad to report that they have now agreed to this.”

Colr. Clifford was referring to a road traffic collision which occurred last Friday evening. Seven year-old Caoimhe McGuinness, was struck by a motorcycle. She sustained a number of serious injuries including a torn spleen and fractured skull.

Two men were arrested following the incident.
