Local people are being urged to get costumed up for a high speed trip across the Foyle as part of the Children In Crossfire Zipline 2014 Challenge.
The event, which will offer a unique bird’s eye view over River Foyle, will be staged locally for the first time in two years and takes place on Saturday 6th September.
Participants will climb 170ft high in a crane basket and will be attached to the zipwire to cross 1,300ft of the River from Prehen boat house to Coshowen on Foyle Road.
The high-octane journey will involve speeds of up to 35 miles per hour, and can be done in fancy dress.
J.R. McLaughlin, the charity’s Head of Fundraising said: “We are thrilled to be doing the zip line across the Foyle again this year. We had wanted to do the challenge in the city having previously done it across the River Lagan in Belfast in 2009 and Derry in 2011 and 2012.”
Director Richard Moore added: “We are hoping to recruit 100 participants, places are limited and the interest in the challenge is phenomenal.”
To take part, contact the Children in Crossfire office on 028 71269898 or e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org. A £20 deposit secures a place with a further £140 sponsorship needed.
